As we reach the close of another year, we pause with gratitude for our community—survivors, families, clinicians, volunteers, and supporters—who make our mission possible.

Admittedly, it has been a tough year to be a nonprofit, especially a nonprofit like ours which addresses eating disorders, a mental health condition that is so complex, nuanced, and misunderstood. With federal funding for all mental health research being cut, our university-based researchers are struggling to continue their life-saving work. Despite this difficulty, with the help of our community, we continue to forge ahead supporting innovative research, education, and outreach.

We’re proud to support the international research conducted by Dr. Cynthia Bulik and her colleagues. From EDGI (the largest global research study on the genetics of eating disorders), to the Psychiatric Genomics Consortium (leveraging global collaboration to advance genetic discovery of biologically, clinically, and therapeutically meaningful insights), to her work creating a suite of couple-based treatments for eating disorders called UNITE – these studies and experiments are building a future with more effective treatment of eating disorders.

Additionally, Something For Kelly continues to be an active exhibitor and participant at the International Conference on Eating Disorders (ICED). This annual conference brings together clinicians, researchers, and educators to discuss innovative practices that advance the field.

And our efforts don’t stop there.

As we move into 2026, Something For Kelly is striving to make our support dollars have an even greater impact. We will continue to support Dr. Bulik’s work, and we will continue to reach out to the scientific community to identify additional research studies that are collaborative across the global research community - Studies that are focused on helping clinicians make more comprehensive diagnoses, and which begin to better develop treatment regimens that address the complexity and nuances of this mental health disorder.

With your continued partnership, we can reach even more individuals who need support in 2026. Thank you for standing with us and being a vital part of our community.

    With gratitude,
    Patti Geolat
